A Sitka black-tailed deer feeds on some alder buds along Tenakee Inlet. We have been seeing a lot of does and fawns, but very few bucks. Still, it’s been a great hunting trip so far, and we have yet a couple more days of hunting before we head back to Juneau. Aside from the camaraderie I have particularly enjoyed hunting in the old growth forests, and seeing deer up close in these ancient forests has been a real treat. It’s amazing with how much ease they move in steep, brushy terrain and jump over fallen logs. It looks like they have springs on their feet!
