Moonlight Over Juneau

I have never delved into HDR (High dynamic range) photography yet, and this image taken from Douglas across Gastineau Channel of the moonlight over Juneau last night is just one single image. However, by combining multiple photographs taken at varying exposure levels, HDR images enable photographers to record a greater range of tonal detail than a camera could capture in a single digital photo. I have had my frustrations with the narrow range of tonal detail captured by by a single digital photo, and will likely explore HDR photography in the future. Tonal mapping can give HDR photography a surreal look, making an image look more like a painting than a photograph.
