Polar Bear Dance

A couple of Polar Bears wrestle along one of the barrier reefs near Kaktovik on Alaska’s Arctic coast. These bears are among a small group of around 80 – 90 bears which spend time on land, waiting for the sea ice to return. The ice pack is currently around 600 miles to the north, and about 90% of the Beaufort Sea Polar Bear population, numbered at around 1,500, is believed to have stayed within the confines of the ice pack.
